Former BHS student Jaiden Ford was been selected as the youth representative to walk in the 2026 Rose Bowl Parade with the Lions International float; what an incredible honor!
Jaiden was named California Leo of the Year in 2023 and is currently studying at San Jose State University, majoring in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry. She also comes from a proud Burney educator family: her dad, Bill Ford, is a longtime math teacher at Burney High School; and her mom, Joy Ford, is a longtime teacher at Burney Elementary.

Out of more than 300 impressive submissions across Shasta County, Alicia’s creative and impactful artwork truly stood out. Hat Creek Construction has generously provided Burney High School students with a Catipillar D6 Dozer , giving our Heavy Equipment students a unique, hands-on learning opportunity in a real-world, industry-relevant setting. Through this invaluble partnership, students will engage in experiential learning as they operate and maintain machinery of this scale, building both technical competencies and career-ready skills. Over the coming months, learners will immerse themselves in authentic workforce training, gaining practical insights into the daily responsibilities of a heavy equipment operator while strengthening problem-solving, safety awareness, and applied knowledge that align with industry standards.
